Crop Shocks!

SoDy’s Florian Jehn (and his co-authors James Mulhall, Simon Blouin, Łukasz G. Gajewski, and Nico Wunderling) have just had their article ‘The largest crop production shocks: magnitude, causes and frequency’ published by Earth System Dynamics. In their analysis, they show that climate fluctuations - particularly droughts and cold periods - are the main source of disruption for food supplies and that without preventative and preparedness work now, we are at high risk of a global food scarcity.
